Dear members of the Croatian Scholarship Fund!

I can't find the words to describe my happiness when I received your letter. It is really a great honour to be chosen among hundreds of candidates for CSF scholarship, so I am glad that you recognized my application as sufficient to satisfy most of your criteria and that you understood my family's tough material position, which would probably make difficulties in my future education or even prevent it totally. So this scholarship means a lot to me.

I think you will be pleased to know that I passed the qualification exam at the University in Zagreb. The exams were being held from the 3rd till 12th of July for one or more Colleges a day - my wish is to become an engineer of chemistry so my qualification exam was held on the 3rd of July at the College for Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Zagreb (Prirodoslovno-matematicki Fakultet - PMF - Sveuculiste u Zagrebu). I was fifth on the list which was formed by points from success during high school and points from the exam, so I was able to become a student of PMF in the Chemistry Department - chemical engineering. To confirm my words I am sending you a certificate that was given to me in order to prove my status as a regular student at PMF especially for this scholarship. The certificate is the cause of my late reply. Although I officially became a student on the 6th of July, I didn't ask for a certificate because I wasn't sure whether I would get the scholarship or not. I mean, you always hope for the best, but there are lots of good students nowadays who need your scholarship probably as much as I do. The number of candidates for any competition of this kind is large, which makes the chances you have even less, and therefore my happiness and gratitude even greater.

At the end, I want to say thank you once again for your help in realisation of my future plans, thank you for your support, for giving me a chance. I hope that I will really be able to truly fulfill your demands and some day help my people and my country with my knowledge, which I hope I will accomplish during the next four years.

Yours sincerely,

Josip Pozar
