Dear CSF, One one hand, we are all living in a material world, and every financial help is always welcomed - especially when we talk about Croatia, a country where the life standard is still very low. The prices of the books that are necessary for students to have are extremely high. On other hand, I was very happy when I found out that I was selected and the reason for my happiness was not of material nature. What I actually want to say is that in the society today the knowledge doesn't have the value it should have. Great amounts of money are spent on entertainers and on "buying" expensive sportsmen, while, on the other hand, young and talented Croatian scientists, who, in general, always stay anonymous, can not find enough financial support to realize their projects and ideas. Or is it maybe much more important for a country to win a football match than to discover a new medicine? That is exactly the main reason for my happiness for having this scholarship. I think that the existence of CSF organization is of great value because it is a wonderful thing to know that there are some people who still put knowledge and education on the first place. It is for sure the thing that will stimulate and inspire young people to try to give their best. Tatjana Cebic |
